A day among beautiful nature views, breathtaking landscapes, rugged mountains and beautiful contrasts such as trees and plants, some in bloom depending on the season. Add a visit to a tiny mountain village and a small personal winery and you have a great day out!
The Sierra Nevada mountain range peaks in the background, parts of the year with snow-capped peaks, while the southern parts of the mountain range, in the area around the Alpujarras, are adorned with greenery and flowers, such as almond trees.
After the bus ride from Nerja and Almuñécar, we arrive at the small picturesque mountain village of Polopos, which is about an hour's drive from Almuñécar. We make a short stop in the village to meet Swedish Veronica who a few years ago bought a 100-year-old house in the village. She shares her story about family life in the village, what it's like to renovate and live everyday life in a Spanish indigenous village of 60 people.
Together with Veronica, we get something to drink in the local bar before we drive on another 7 km to our final destination, which is the visit to the bodega Haza del Lino. We get to meet the owner Senior Paco who tells us (in English) and shows his vineyards as well as the wine production in his bodega. We also get the opportunity to see some of the area's cork oaks. Finally, we are invited to taste the bodega's own wines with accompanying delicious tapas.
Viticulture takes place organically with grapes that grow at an altitude of 1150-1400 meters, which makes Haza del Lino one of the highest situated vineyards in Europe. At harvest, the grapes are picked by hand.
It is possible to buy wines and other local products (cheese, honey, sausage etc) directly from the bodega to bring home.
Full day trip around 8 hours. The bus departs from the bus station in Nerja (Estación de Autobuses Nerja), and in Almuñécar from Hotel Helios and the Aqua Tropic Water Park (Parque Acuático de agua salada en Almuñécar). Specify your stop when booking. In the case of larger groups that have a different preference for pick-up, this can possibly be arranged after agreement with us.
